Safety tips before you pay

Everyone

  • Never pay into a personal account when the business claims to be a company. Ask for the company account name.
  • Get a receipt or written agreement for every payment.
  • Be wary of "today only" pressure and prices far below market.
  • Check the trust card: who confirmed what, and when.

Land and houses

  • Inspect in person. Visit the site more than once.
  • Search title at the Oyo State Ministry of Lands before paying.
  • Use your own lawyer. Ask agents for ESVARBON or NIESV registration.
  • Agency and legal fees should be agreed in writing upfront.

Cars

  • Check customs papers and the VIN; match it to the car.
  • Use a mechanic you trust for inspection.
  • Prefer authorised dealers for new cars.

Poultry & agro-inputs

  • Check feed bag batch numbers and expiry dates.
  • Buy vaccines from cold-chain stores; ask how they were stored.
  • Book day-old chicks from known hatcheries, not resellers you cannot trace.

Events

  • Visit the venue; confirm the hall and date in writing.
  • Ask what the deposit covers and the refund policy.
  • Confirm power backup and security in the agreement.
